The purpose of the Dramateurs is to develop skills on stage and in stage craft; to coordinate all theatrical productions at Northwest Catholic High School; and to cultivate an appreciation for the dramatic arts.

Sara Demos Avery Artistic Director
The 2018-2019 season represents Sara Demos Avery's 16th year at the helm of the NWC Dramateurs, and her first as the Chair of the Performing Arts Department at NWC. Additionally she has served as the Artistic Director of the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival for the past nine years, overseeing productions of Gypsy '10, Thoroughly Modern Millie '11, Hairspray '12, Guys and Dolls '13, On the Town '14, West Side Story '15 and Beauty and the Beast '16, Pippin '17, and The Addams Family '18. She directed the musicals at Conard High School for the '03 and '04 seasons, and has served on the faculty for the Summer Vocal Institute: Musical Theatre Intensive Jr. program at the Hartt Community Division. She has her 30+ Masters credits in Educational Administration through the University of Scranton.
Kate Morran Director/Choreographer
"Miss Kate" has been the choreographer for NWC musicals since 2004. She has also served as the head choreographer and musical stager for the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival for the past nine years, and served as the assistant director and choreographer of the shows at Simsbury High School, under the direction of Dr. Stuart Younse. A 2012 graduate of the West Hartford Yoga teacher training program, Kate has taught the WHY Tween/Teen series, and offers private in-home instruction. She has also served on the faculty of the Hartt School's Summer Vocal Institute: Musical Theatre Intensive and the Middlesex Consortium's Broadway Bound Program.
Rorie Fitzsimons Technical Advisor
Rorie served as the Senior Techincal Director for Undergraduate Production at Yale University from 2001 to his recent retirement in 2018, as the Set Designer for the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival since 2010, and as the Set Designer/Technical Advisor at Northwest Catholic High School for over 20 years. His work has also been seen locally at TheaterWorks (Hartford), Hartford Children's Theatre, Ivoryton, Conard High School (Hello Dolly!, Cinderella) and Hall High School (Pops 'n Jazz), among others. Rorie teaches Stagecraft at NWC.
